Who we are

DiscountNearby is a directory of shop offers and business services for Bangladesh. You can reach us at the email address and phone number in the footer of every page.

No accounts

You don't need an account to use DiscountNearby. We do not collect your name, phone number or location just because you visit.

What you send us

The listing request, business services and leaderboard forms put your details into a WhatsApp message or an email that you send yourself.

When you press send on the listing or business services form, we also save a copy of the same details (and your answers to the optional questions) in our database, so requests are not lost in a chat history. Only the DiscountNearby team can read it.

We receive what you choose to send, such as your name, business name, phone number, address and offers, and use it only to handle that request: checking and publishing a listing, arranging a service, or sending a payment link.

We keep these messages for as long as we need them for that purpose and for our records, and delete them sooner if you ask.

CVs and job applications

On the Careers page you can send your profile and CV. We store them in a private database and file store that only the DiscountNearby team can open. They are never shown on this site.

We use them only to match you with businesses that are hiring, and we ask you before sharing your profile with a specific business. You can ask us to delete your CV and details at any time; otherwise we delete them two years after you last contacted us.

Your location

"Near me" asks your browser for your location only when you press it. The distance to each shop is worked out on your own device; your location is never sent to us or stored by us.

When you explore a kind of place on "Near me", such as salons or anything you type, your area rounded to about 1 km is sent to OpenStreetMap's public search services to find places around it. Their own privacy policy applies to that request. Nothing about it is sent to us.

What stays in your browser

Saved offers, reward points, reviews you write and your language choice are kept in your own browser's storage. They are never sent to us. Clearing this site's data in your browser deletes them.

Visitor statistics

We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, to see how many people use the site and which pages help them. It uses no cookies and does not identify you: it records the page, the site you came from, your country, and your type of device and browser.

Other services the site uses

The site is hosted on GitHub Pages, which may log technical data such as your IP address. Requests, applications and CVs are stored with Cloudflare, our database provider. To stop floods of fake requests, it keeps a scrambled (hashed) form of the sending IP address for one day, never the address itself. Clicks from the leaderboard to a shop's website are counted per day, with nothing about who clicked. Photos load from Unsplash. Links to WhatsApp, Google, and the websites of the businesses we list take you to services with their own privacy policies.

We do not use advertising trackers or sell personal data.

Payments

We never ask for your PIN, OTP or card number. You pay for paid placement or services yourself, by bKash, Nagad or Rocket Send Money or by bank transfer, to the numbers and account shown on our payment pages. When you tell us about a payment, we keep the method, amount, transaction ID, the number or account it came from, and your name and phone number, so we can match it against our statement. We keep these records for as long as the law requires for accounts, and use them for nothing else.

Your choices

Email us to ask what we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. We will reply within 30 days.
